DIY Fall Herbal Natural Lip Balm
Have you ever made your own lip balm? I think you'll enjoy how simple this recipe is & you might feel inspired to give it a try. Once you have your ingredients collected this recipe takes 5 minutes! The addition of beet root powder is so fun and elevates it just a touch, which I love!
YOU'LL NEED:
A double boiler
spoon
1 ounce tin or glass container with lid
INGREDIENTS:
2 teaspoons organic solid coconut oil
2 teaspoons organic cocoa butter
1 teaspoon organic beeswax
2-3 drops peppermint essential oil
1 drop cedarwood essential oil
1/2 teaspoon organic beet root powder (optional, for tinting)
HOW TO:
In a double boiler over low heat, combine the coconut oil, cocoa butter & beeswax until melted
Remove from heat and continue stirring. When the mixture begins to cool, it will begin to thicken and the color will turn milky; at this time, add the essential oils & beet powder (if using) and continue stirring.
Pour the mixture into the container and let cool without the lid. Allow the balm to cool for 6-8 hours or overnight before covering! Covering it too soon results in condensation which prevents the balm from drying correctly.
Apply with fingertips
Add a fun label or piece of washi tape for added flair!
